Things to Do in Marlboro, NJ: Parks, Trails & Local Favorites

Marlboro Township is best known for quiet neighborhoods and good schools, but there is plenty to do close to home. Here are some favorites our drivers recommend.

Big Brook Park

This Monmouth County park covers more than 400 acres of woodlands, wetlands and fields, with trails for walking, running and biking. Big Brook is also known for fossil hunting in the brook itself.

The Henry Hudson Trail

The paved Henry Hudson Trail runs through the area and connects with Big Brook Park — a good, flat route for an afternoon walk or bike ride.

Township parks and recreation

Marlboro’s Municipal Park Complex and Recreation Way Park have sports fields, courts and playgrounds, and the township runs seasonal events throughout the year.

Route 9 and Route 79 are lined with shopping centers and restaurants, from Italian dining rooms to casual taco and seafood spots. Freehold Raceway Mall is about 20 minutes away.

Nearby nights out

The PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel hosts big summer concerts, and Red Bank and Asbury Park are a short ride for dinner and live music.
